Gunn fires back after triple bogey

start at Vista Verde, Arizona

Highlander Jimmy Gunn recovered from a triple bogey 7 at the first hole to return a two-under-par 70 to add to his opening round of 66 and stand in joint ninth place after two rounds of this week's Gateway Tour event - Desert Series No 6 - at Vista Verde Golf Club, Arizona.
Dornoch man Gunn reached the turn in 39, thanks to birdies at the third and seventh to blunt the blow of his 7 at the first and further shots dropped at the fifth and sixth.
Jimmy surely likes the closing holes at Vista Verde. In his first-round he covered the last six holes in four under par. In his second, he did even better, birdieing the 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th and 18th for five-under-par 31 for the homeward journey.
Gunn has had 13 birdies over the first 36 holes.
Charlie Beljan leads on 11-under-par 133 with rounds of 68 and 64. He is a shot ahead of fellow American John Ellis, on 134 with a pair of 67s.
