Romero wins US Seniors' Toshiba Classic

FROM THE EUROPEAN TOUR WEBSITE
Argentina's Eduardo Romero edged past joint overnight leader Mark O'Meara to win the Toshiba Classic on the US Champions Tour.
European Senior Tour Member Romero shot a closing three under 68 for an 11 under total of 202 in the 54 hole event at the Newport Beach Country Club in California. He finished a shot clear of O'Meara, who tied for second with Joey Sindelar.
"I was very relaxed all week, especially during the final round," said Romero. "I made a stupid bogey on the last hole, but fortunately it didn't really matter.
"I won the tournament on the back nine. I played OK on the front, but I lost concentration. I got more focused on the back nine and changed things around."
Germany’s Bernhard Langer, who had shared the lead with O'Meara coming into the final round, fell out of the contest with a two over par 73 for a share of ninth place. Scotland’s Sandy Lyle finished with a round of 70 to tie for 12th place.
