NICKY MADDISON FINISHES 7TH IN
KANSAS DESPITE ROUND OF 86

Nicky Maddison, who has had such a good first season for Hutchinson Community College, had an uncharacteristic opening round of 14-over-par 86, which killed his hopes of winning the Kansas Junior Colleges' event at Falcon Ridge Golf Club, Lexena.
The Newcastle student, pictured right, a former winner of one of the St Andrews open summer events, was more like his old self with a 74 in the second round, equalling the best in the tournament by anyone. His total of 160 saw him gain seventh place in a field of 50, which was not a bad finish after the trials and tribulations of his first round.
Miles Christensen (Johnson County) was the winner with 77 and 74 for 151.
Major consolation for Maddison was that Hutchinson CC (632) won the team event ahead of Johnson County (637) in a field of 20.

SCOTS DOWN THE FIELD IN GEORGIA

Clayton State University, Atlanta students Neil McBride from Glasgow and Kevin Duncan from Ellon finished 87th and 88th respectively in a field of 96 for the Bobcat Invitational college event over three rounds at Cuscowilla, Eatonon in Georgia.
McBride score 79, 75 and 85 for 239, one better than Kevin Duncan who had scores of 81, 80 and 79.
Francisco Bide (Georgia Colkege) was the winner with 71, 71 and 66 for 208 over a par-70 course of 6,730yd.
Clayton State finished 10th of 18 in the team event won by Georgia College.

JACK HILUTA THIRD IN MOBILE BAY

England's Jack Hiluta, a freshman student at South Alabama University, finished third in a field of 92 players for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at Magnolia Grove Golf Club, Mobile in Alabama.
Over a par-72 course of 7,239yd, Hiluta had creditable rounds of 73, 74 and 74 for 221.
Joe Emerich (Illinois State) won the individual title with scores of 74, 68 and 73 for 215, four shots ahead of runner-up Josh Bevell (Mississippi State) (73-72-74).
Two English students at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Kieran Lovelock from Surrey and Alan Glynn from Middlesex finished joint 12th and joint 31st respectively in this event.
Lovelock had rounds of 77, 76 and 72 for 225, Glynn 75, 75 and 84 for 230.
Mississippi State (888) won the team title ahead of South Alabama (897) with Illinois State (902) third of 16 teams.
