CHRIS LAW WINS ON THE BACK
OF AN EAGLE AT MURCAR LINKS

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Hazlehead's Chris Law, whose younger brother David is a Scotland boy cap, stole the limelight for himself at today's North-east Golfers' Alliance meeting by heading a field of 94 at Murcar Links.
It was Chris's first win on the winter circuit and he achieved it with a two-over-par 71 in a day of miserable conditions of fog and drizzle.
Three-handicapper Law's competition-winning master stroke was an eagle 2 at the 14th where he had the good fortune to hold a full blown second shot.
In contrast, home-course player Anthony Bews, one of five players who shared second place on 72, ran up a triple-bogey 7 at the same hole - a five-shot swing that cost him victory.
The others on 73 were Don Garrett (Huntly), Stuart Murray (Newburgh), Stewart Finnie (Caledonian) and Fergus Bisset (Banchory).
