Lloyd Saltman taking a winter break
before Challenge Tour campaign

Lloyd Saltman is putting a brave face on his failure to win membership of the European Tour.
He failed to survive the fourth-round cut at the Final Qualifying School at PGA Catalunya in northern Spain at the weekend after shooting an 80 in the third round and a 67 in the fourth for five-over-par 291 - six shots to many to stay on and play the final two rounds.
The 23-year-old Lothians man, reckoned to have a golden future in the pro ranks after a stellar amateur career, says he will put away his clubs for the winter and come out refreshed for the 2009 season when he will be playing on the Challenge Tour.
"I came to Spain looking for a tour card and I've failed and that's disappointing," he said. "Saturday's round really hurt me but that's golf. I'll take it on the chin and move on. I have a decent category for the Challenge Tour and I'll play on that. It's not where I wanted to be but getting to the main tour is going to take longer than I planned. I'm willing to do what it takes though."
