Chris Doak runs out of time - disqualified
at Murrayfield pro-am
Tartan Tour leading money-winner Chris Doak, who has been averaging close on £1,000 from every competition he has played in this season, had to settle for a £48.39 payment in today's Murrayfield Golf Club pro-am in Edinburgh.
Doak was disqualified for a 17th hole incident. He could not find his ball – it transpired it had been played by mistake by another competitor – and by the time Chris had tried to rectify the situation by dropping another ball where he thought his ball had been lying and playing, it was over the 5min limit.
Doak received the £48.39 payment which the last 23 professionals in the field earned.
James McKinnon (Irvine) and Thailand-based Kenny Walker (Castle Park) tied for victory on the four-under-par 66 mark and earned £1,408 each.
Mark King (Kingsfield) was third with a 67 which earned him £938.
Kieron Stevenson (Royal Troon) led the Mackay Hall trio of amateurs to a three-shot victory in the team event with a net score of 18-under-par 52.
