Scots boys fail to make the
top grade in Slovenia
Scotland failed to figure among the top eight qualifiers in the rain-abbreviated European boys' team golf championship at Bled Golf Club, Slovenia.
With the first qualifying round washed out on Tuesday, it meant that the stroke-play test to decide who made the top championship match-play flight was decided over only 18 holes today.
There were 22 individual scores under 70, headed by Anders Kristiansen (Norway) with a 64 and Matteo Manassero (Italy) with a 65 and Norway's Are Friestad with a 66.
England and Ireland both qualified but Scotland's boys just couldn't match that pace and finished outwith the top eight teams.
We would like to tell you all the teams' totals but the championship website is sadly lacking in these important details.
We can tell you that James Ross and Paul Shields both shot 71 and were joint 30th in the individual rankings.
Scottish boys champion Michael Stewart and David Law had 72s, which put them in joint 42nd position.
Andrew McLachlan and Kyle Smith shared 69th place with 74s.
The line-up in the championship match-play flight on Thursday is:
Italy v England.
Norway v Ireland.
Germany v Portugal.
Denmark v Sweden.
For flight 2, the automatic draw is:
France v Finland.
Netherlands v Wales.
Scotland v. Belgium.
Switzerland v Spain
