District boys' match-play
championship
North-east youths champion Adam Dunton (McDonald Ellon) added another title to his collection when he won the North-east District boys' match-play golf championship for the Bill Brown Trophy at Duff House Royal Golf Club today.
Dunton, pictured right, runner-up to David Law (Hazlehead) in the North-east boys' stroke-play championship, also at the Banff venue, on Thursday, beat David Millar (Oldmeldrum) by 4 and 3 in the final. In the semi-finals, Dunton beat Calum Trahan (Royal Aberdeen) 2 and 1 while Millar beat Tom Spencer (Inchmarlo) by the same margin.
Dunton was one under par for the 15 holes of the final in which he trailed for the first seven holes to a Miller birdie at the first.
Dunton squared the match at the eighth and took control by winning the 10th, 11th and 12th to go three holes ahead. After halves at the 13th and 14th, Dunton won the 15th for a 4 and 3 victory.
RESULTS
Semi-finals - D Miller (Oldmeldrum) bt T Spencer (Inchmarlo) 2 and 1, A Dunton (McDonald Ellon) bt C Trahan (Royal Aberdeen) 2 and 1.
Final - Dunton bt Miller 4 and 3.
