AUSSIE HEADING FOR HALFWAY LEAD
IN EAST OF SCOTLAND OPEN
First-round leaders Christopher Bradley from Pitreavie and former Scottish match-play champion Glenn Campbell (Blairgowrie) left the door open to the chasing pack with their soaring afternoon scores in the East of Scotland Open amateur championship, sponsored by the Bobby Jones Golf Company, over four rounds at Lundin Golf Club, Fife this weekend.
Bradley, not quoted pre-tournament as a contender in this Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit event, slipped into the pole position before lunch with a four-under-par 67, one shot ahead of Campbell.
But second time round it was a different story. Bradley took nine shots more for a 76 and a one-over-par halfway tally of 143.
Campbell matched that – though he would have much preferred to better it – with a 75.
Out on the course Scott Arnold, one of several touring Australians in the field, was one under par for the tournament with four holes to play. He had a 71 in the first round.
Gordon Yates (Hilton Park) was level par after 32 holes. He scored 72 at the first attempt.
