Scots Sim and Whiteford to the fore in
New Zealand Open

Aberdeen-born Michael Sim was lying in joint fourth place with a three-under-par 69 while Peter Whiteford from Kirkcaldy was just outside the top 10 with a 70 in the first round of the New Zealand Open championship at The Hills Golf Club, Queenstown.
Sharing the lead on 68 were two Australians, Craig Parry and Paul Sheehan, and a lesser-known Englishman, Matthew Woods.
