Rain washes out fourth round at Glasgow Killermont
BOOTH WINS TENNANT CUP AFTER SPLENDID
64 IN THIRD ROUND TO GO FIVE SHOTS CLEAR
Wallace Booth from Comrie, who recently graduated with honours in business management studies after four years at Augusta State University, finished top of the class in the Tennant Cup today after the torrential rain washed out the fourth and final round
Young Booth would probably have won the prestigious silver medal and £500 first place voucher anyway because he put together a magnficent third round of 67 over the Glasgow Golf Club Killermont course for a three-round total of 204, sweeping past Craig Watson who had led by two shots from Booth after Saturday's first two rounds at Glasgow Gailes.
It was a second SGU 72-hole Order of Merit tournament win for Wallace. He won the North of Scotland open stroke-play at Elgin two or three years back. He won the Scottish youths championship more recently.
Watson had a 71 at Killermont for 209.
Joint third on 210 were Gavin Dear (Murrayshall) and Mark Lamb (Haddington), like Booth, both experienced on the American college circuit.
First two rounds Glasgow Gailes, Third round Glasgow Killermont.
Fourth round cancelled because of rain.
