CHAMPIONSHIP AT ROYAL PORTHCAWL

On a day when the best-placed Scot was in 36th place, there was a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard after the opening round of the Glenmuir British Club Professional Championship at Royal Porthcawl.
While Irvine's Jim McKinnon was the best of the Scots, on a one-over 71, the rest of the Home Countries dominated. Ireland's John Dwyer, England's Daniel Greenwood and Andrew Barnett from Wales all signed for six-under 66s.
