McGREGOR TROPHY U-16 BOYS

SAM TOP SCOT IN SHARE OF EIGHTH

PLACE AT WORTHING

Sam Binning (Old Ranfurly) had the highest finish of the four Scottish qualifiers for the final day of the McGregor Trophy English Under-16 boys' open stroke-play golf championship at Worthing Golf Club, Sussex today.

Sam, with rounds of 75, 72, 75 and 73 for a total of 295, claimed joint eighth place behind winner Oscar Sharpe (Minchinhampton) who scored three-over-par 287. Sharpe won't have his 14th birthday for a few weeks yet.

Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) finished on 302, Paul Shields (Kirkhill) 308 and Mark Bookless (Sandyhills) 310.
