Cruden Bay's Chris Gilbert coped best of all in a field of 85 competitors with quite windy conditions which made low scoring difficult in today's (WED) North-east Golfers' Alliance competition at Ballater where the course was in excellent condition
Gilbert, pictured, won the scratch section of the Ron Menzies Memorial Quaich on a countback over Michael Findlay (Cullen Links) and John Duff (Newmachar), all of whom returned 70s.
Gilbert had halves of 37-33, Findlay 35-35 and Duff 35-35
Last six holes countback: Michael Findlay 21, John Duff 22.
Dave McLean (Newmachar), playing off eight, won the Handicap Class 1 section with a net 64 while Colin Duffus headed Class 2 with a net 68 off nine.
Next competition at Portlethen GC on Wednesday, October 16
