SEAN LAWRIE WINS BY TWO SHOTS WITH

A SEVEN-UNDER 65 AT WINDY NEWMACHAR

Only four players broke 70 in today's (WED) North-east Golfers' Alliance in which a field of 102 had to contend with a strong wind and a tough course.
There were 20 No Returns, almost a fifth of the field, one of the highest ever one-event NR totals in the history of the Alliance, confirming the view that the Newmachar Hawkshill track is the toughest on the NE Alliance circuit and one of the toughest in Scotland.
Sean Lawrie (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) was the winner by two strokes with a very good round of 65, finishing two shots ahead of Sam Locke (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and Paul Lawrie (Gleneagles).
Sean had a bogey-free, seven-birdie round with halves of 31 (five under par) and 34 (two under).

His figures were:

Sam crammed four birdies into a five-hole span from the short sixth to the par-4 10th: 2 4 4 2 3

Paul also kept a bogey off his card (32-35) while Sam had halves of 33-34 with one bogey
