Jack Broun leads by five at halfway in NE District Open at Portlethen

Ayrshire ace Jack Broun has opened up a five-stroke lead over the first two rounds of the 72-hole North-east District Open stroke-play championship at Portlethen Golf Club.
A member at Turnberry and Ayr Belleisle, Broun, pictured, has had classy Portlethen scores  of 69 and 66 for a nine-under-par tally of 135 - a commanding halfway lead over his nearest rivals, Gary Esson (Portlethen) 70-70 and Adam Dunton (McDonald Ellon) 68 72.
Apart from Broun and Dunton, the only other players in the field to break 70 in either round were Joe Bryce (Bathgate) 74-67 and Mark Halliday (Royal Aberdeen) 72-69. They are sharing fourth place with Euan McIntosh (Turnhouse) 71-70 on the 141 mark.
Bryce has already won the Craigmillar Park Open and the Battle Trophy this season. The North-east District Open would complete a notable hat-trick if Joe could make up the six-shot leeway over the final two rounds
