Played on Sunday 9th June at Renfrew Golf Club where the original George Duncan Memorial Trophy was presented, on a day when the weather shone allowing the players the best of overhead conditions.
In the morning semi-finals, Calum Taggert (Bonnyton GC) beat Calum McAlpine (Erskine GC) by 3 and 2, while Craig Bissett (Earl of Mar GC) beat Euan McNeill (Lochwinnoch GC) 4 and 3.

In the Final Calum Taggart faced Graig Bissett.

The early holes were exchanged, but Craig always had the upper hand, moving from one up after five holes to three up after seven as both players found the trees at Renfrew a bit of a challenge to stay clear of.
Calum won the eighth and the match stayed at two holes in favour of Craig for the next two holes, due to some great recovery play by him. He capped this with a recovery birdie at 11 to move to three up and then a poor tee shot at 14 saw Craig go four up with four to play.

Calum, however, fought back with birdies at 15 and 17 and with Craig again in trees at 16 the match moved to the 18th hole.

The trees again proved to be the downfall of Calum and when Craig hit the fairway and was safely on the green in two shots, the hole was finally conceded, resulting in a win for Craig by two holes.

The final was, as usual, played in the true spirit of the game which is what the RGU expect of their players at the top level.

Thanks again go to Renfrew Golf Club for hosting the event and for providing a course in excellent condition.

Final Result

Craig Bissett (Earl of Mar GC) bt Calum Taggart (Bonnyton GC) 2 holes.
