Kimberley Beveridge wins county championship for first time

By KAREN STALKER (who also took the pictures)
Aboyne's Kimberley Beveridge has won the Aberdeenshire women's county championship for the first time, beating Sammy Leslie (Murcar Links) by one  hole in this afternoon's final at Murcar Links.
Conditions were very difficult with players having to cope with a very strong cross wind.
Despite the conditions, spectators were treated to an excellent display of golf. Both players took turns with the lead over the first nine holes with the match all square on the 10th tee.
Sammy then took control of the match, building a two-hole lead on the 13th. However, Kim fought back and won the 15th with a birdie 3 and squared the match on the 16th. Both players parred the 17th and down the 18th they went.
On the green, Kim was left with a 4 foot putt for the match and as cool as a cucumber, she sank the putt to win the county championship for her first time.
Earlier in the day, Jill Harrison (Cruden Bay) beat Julie Lees (Westhill) 6 and 4 in the Handicap Championship final.
Aberdeenshire County Golf wish to thank all involved at Murcar Links Golf Club for hosting a successful Championship
.
