PARK OPEN 2019
April 13 and 14
The 2019 Craigmillar Park Open takes place on 13th and 14th April.
The competition was inaugurated in 1961 and it is the annual
opening event of the Scottish Order of Merit season, qualifying for world amateur ranking points.
It is regularly attended by the leading amateur golfers in
Scotland, Ireland and from across the border.
The event's first winner in 1961 was Ronnie Shade who went on to win it
on another four occasions.
Other past winners have included golfing legends and talented young guns. Names
you will recognise are Sir Nick Faldo, Charlie Green, Andrew Oldcorn and Craig Watson. It was also won by European Tour winners Marc Warren and Scott Jamieson during their amateur careers.
Craig Watson, the 2019 GB and I Walker Cup team captain, has competed in the Craigmillar Park Open for over 20 years and won the tournament in 1995 and 2014. He will be teeing off at 8.39 in his first round on Saturday.
Craigmillar Park Golf Club is being represented by three members. Playing in the event for the first time this year are Bryan Davies jun. and Grant Fleming. Conor
O’Toole, the third member, a junior, from the host club is making his second appearance in the event
Joe Bryce assists PGA pro Alan Wright in the Pro's Shop at Craigmillar Park, and Joe is competing this year for
the first time.
Currently playing off a handicap of +3 is Bryce a member at Bathgate where he lives and he is joined by another Bathgate member in Christopher
Strachan.
Get along to Craigmillar Park and see the talents of the best of
Scotland’s Amateur golfers. There is even an entry from
Belgium this year in Shasa Decker. There are entries from 9
players from England and one from Ireland.
Craigmillar Park have a great offer
where you can play this great city centre course for only
£10 which includes tea/coffee and a breakfast roll. This
offer is only available in the week of Monday 15th to Sunday
21st April. between 12noon -2pm or
5-7pm
