 Dunne and Moynihan win GolfSixes
Team Ireland
Image of Team Ireland (Gavin Moynihan and Paul Dunne) by courtesy of Getty Images

Team Ireland won the second edition of GolfSixes in style as the team of Paul Dunne and Gavin Moynihan defeated Team France 2-0 in the final match of the innovative six-hole event at Centurion Club,
The St Albans venue was bathed in glorious sunshine over the weekend as over 10,000 fans - more than double the 2017 figure -  saw the European Tour break new ground once again as women's and mixed sides joined the 16 team field, with the England Women and European Women's teams both making it through to Sunday's knock-out stages.
Ireland, who topped Scotland's initial group, met the England women's pair of Georgia Hall and Charley Hull in the quarter-finals, defeating them 2-0 and then secured their place against France in the final after defeating South Korea in a sudden-death play-off, with Gavin Moynihan chipping in from off the green after the teams finished their semi-final 1-1.
Ireland were birdie or better on 12 of the 17 holes they played on Sunday after finishing top of Group C. In fact, the only match Dunne and Moynihan lost all week was to the French team of Mike-Lorenzo Vera and Romain Wattel in Saturday's group stage.
The Irish pair - who played together in the victorious 2015 Walker Cup team -  started quickly in the final, winning the first and third holes to forge an early 2-0 lead which the French were unable to pull back.
Dunne claims his second victory on English soil in the last seven months, after winning the British Masters supported by Sky Sports in October, while it's Moynihan's first victory since joining the European Tour in 2016.
In the third/fourth place play-off game, South Korea defeated last year's runners-up Australia 3-0.

Oscar-winning performance by Swede Lengden in Spanish Challenge

EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Oscar Lengden displayed a devastating back nine performance to win the Challenge de España at Izki Golf  Club, Spain with a total of 15 under par 273.
The Swede began the day tied for the lead with Wil Besseling but he pulled away from the rest of the field with a superb five under par back nine.
Lengden started as he meant to go on with a birdie at the first hole, immediately seizing the initiative as playing partner Besseling went down for par.
Three successive pars followed as the Swede held on to his good early start, with Besseling remaining a shot behind with pars on every one of the first seven holes.
A birdie at the fifth and a bogey at the sixth meant Lengden stayed at 11 under par, with Besseling registering a birdie at the eighth to join him on 11 under.
A bogey on the ninth, however, meant the 25 year old dropped back to ten under at the turn, with Englishman Ross McGowan breathing down his neck after picking up two front nine shots.
And McGowan kept on charging towards the top of the leaderboard with three consecutive birdies to begin the back nine.
The three gains moved McGowan to 12 under par and gave him the outright lead as Lengden and Besseling were suddenly the chasers.
But following back-to-back pars at the tenth and 11th, Lengden stepped it up a gear.
Successive birdies at the 12th and 13th drew him level with McGowan before another gain at the par four 15th gave him the outright lead with three holes to play.
McGowan, playing in the penultimate group of the day, carded a bogey at the par three 17th to give Lengden some breathing space, as Besseling too dropped a shot by going down in five on the par four 16th.
With a birdie at the 17th, Lengden opened a three-shot lead over Besseling and McGowan as the crowds surrounded the 18th green to welcome their champion in waiting.
And the Swede didn’t disappoint. He stroked home a superb birdie putt on the 18th to seal his victory in the best possible way and secure his second European Challenge Tour title.

Victory in Spain moves Oscar Lengden to fifth place on the Road to Ras Al Khaimah with 43,310 points, just under 53,000 points behind Number One Lorenzo Gagli. Ross McGowan, meanwhile, moves up to tenth position on 25,750 points with his finish of tied second.

CARMEN AT 14 IS YOUNGEST ABDNSHIRE WOMEN'S CHAMPION

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Aboyne's Carmen Griffiths became the youngest ever winner of the Aberdeenshire women's county golf championship at Banchory Golf Club today (Sunday).
The 14-year-old dominated the tournament by heading the match-play qualifiers and then progressing smoothly to the final in which she beat four times former champion Sammy Leslie (Murcar Links) by 3 and 1.
Griffiths had to show her fighting qualities in the final. She was three down after only four holes but had reduced her deficit to one hole at the turn. The younger player squared the match by winning the 13th and took the lead for the first time with a birdie at the 14th.
Griffiths now had the upper hand. She went two up at the 15th and clinched victory with a birdie 3 at the 17th.
Griffiths, born on November 23, 2003, is 14 years, five months old. The previous youngest champion was Shannon McWilliam, born on August 8, 1999, which made her 14 years nine months old when she won the title in May 2013.
Michelle Finnie, who plays off 11 at Aberdeen Ladies, won the handicap final by 5 and 4 against Vikki Neish (Murcar Links) (16)

Englishman Matthew Jordan (Royal Liverpool), who led from the start, made all the running to win by nine strokes with scores of 67, 69, 70 and 66.
