Portlethen pro Stuart Wilson will move to

Duddingston on February 4

FROM THE DUDDINGSTON GOLF CLUB WEBSITE
We are now delighted to be able to advise that Stuart Wilson has accepted the post as Head Professional of Duddingston Golf Club. He will serve a 3 month notice period at his existing club, Portlethen,  and has agreed to officially start work here on February 4, 2019, which ties in nicely with Alastair McLean’s chosen retiral date.
A total of 18 applications were received for the post, with five going through to interview. Stuart was our first choice candidate and so we are very pleased that he has formally accepted the position.
We all know that it will be a tough job to follow in Alastair’s footsteps but with all our support we are certain that Stuart will succeed.
Stuart will pop in from time to time before his start date and hopefully will get the opportunity to meet some of you before he starts.

Stuart Wilson was born in Kirkcaldy in February 1976 and grew up in the nearby town of Glenrothes. Although Stuart’s family all played golf he didn`t take to the game until the age of 12, but by 18 he had turned professional and started his traineeship at Kirkcaldy Golf Club.
Four Years at Kirkcaldy GC were followed by six years at Ladybank Golf Club, Fife where he took up the role of Senior Teaching Professional under the guidance of Head Professional, Martin Gray.
The reputation he gained as an excellent Instructor opened the door to his next move, a teaching position at Gleneagles Hotel where, in his four years there, he became Head of Instruction.
Although coaching was, and still is, a major passion his desire was always to become a successful club professional and in October of 2007 he was appointed head professional at Eastwood Golf Club, Glasgow.
In his time at Eastwood Stuart established himself and his facility as not only one of the most comprehensive On Course Retail, Improvement and Performance environments in the Glasgow area but has also gained recognition for his efforts from the Industry.
In 2010 he was voted “Professional Of The Year” by the Foremost Group and also collected their award for “Marketing Professional of the year” in both 2009 and 2012, narrowly missing out on the same award in 2013 and 2014, having been nominated for the fourth time in five years.
It was those credentials that made Stuart the stand-out candidate to replace Muriel Thomson as head professional at Portlethen Golf Club in 2015, where like Alastair McLean, Muriel had decided to retire after 25 years' service at the club.
With his own 25 years experience in the golf industry Stuart is confident that the knowledge, experience and qualifications he has accumulated over that time coupled with the unbiased, honest advice and enthusiasm for the game that he and his staff offer they will be able to continue and enhance the great professional service that Duddingston GC has been accustomed to throughout Alastair`s tenure
