England teenager Caitlin Whitehead will represent Europe in next week’s Asia-Pacific Junior Golf Championship in Hong Kong.
The 15-year-old from Cumbria clinched her place with her three-shot victory in last month’s European Young Masters.
She’s one of four players, making up two mixed European teams, who will compete against the best junior players from the Asia Pacific region. They will be captained by Jenny Henderson, the England Golf Women’s Performance Manager.
The championship takes place at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club from Wednesday to Friday, 29-31 August.
Whitehead, from Carus Green Golf Club, will be paired with Finland’s Sakke Siltala, who took the boys’ silver medal at the European Young Masters after losing out in a play-off.
In the second team, Northern Ireland’s Beth Coulter will join Germany’s Luc Breuer. Breuer shot the low round of the European Young Masters and took the bronze medal while Coulter was fourth in the girls’ section.
