Irish girls championship down to last four at

Clandeboye

Valerie Clancy (Killarney), Aine Donegan (Woodstock), Emma Fleming (Elm Park) or Kate Lanigan (Hermitage) will be crowned 2018 Irish Girls’ Close Champion on Saturday at Clandeboye Golf Club.
Emma Fleming (Elm Park) stunned spectators as she secured her spot in the semi-final by overcoming Olivia McCrystal (Holywood) 6 and 5. The Dubliner, who turned 13 in March, saw off one of the favourites Beth Coulter (Kirkistown Castle) on the 18th in her morning match but needed a birdie 4 on the last to do so.
Kate Lanigan (Hermitage), who has won her three matches by the 13th green, will be the next opponent for Fleming
Leading qualifier Anna Foster (Elm Park) edged past local girl Rebekah Gardner in the last 16 but bowed out to Valerie Clancy in the quarter-final. Clancy’s confidence continues to grow and while none of her matches have gone further than the 16th this week, a semi-final match up against fellow Irish Girls Teammate Aine Donegan (Woodstock) may go the distance.
