One of our clients at I and D Insurance Services, Frances Fleming, recently approached me to see if I could help the Charity she co-founded with Alistair Gibb to help a young lad called Trust from the Matsetso village in the Chimanimani region of Zimbabwe, Africa.
He is a promising young golfer whom they already support and assist with food. Following on from the success of my Club Hire Scheme, where Strathmore members, friends and other golfers have donated amazing amounts of equipment, I had no hesitation in offering help.
Today I presented a full set of King Cobra clubs and squeezed in another set of Wilson Fat Shafts into a carry bag which is being taken to Trust by a friend of Frances who is across for The Open. I have asked Trust to keep me updated with his progress so look forward to him catching up.
The charity was set up to help disadvantaged young people and it has already helped with football equipment, strips and boots. They also support six children, allowing them to attend school.
Alistair sponsors Zander who is just about to finish an Electrical Engineering course at College. The funding raised by this Charity goes a long way in the education of the youngsters and their understanding in preserving their unique environment.
If anyone is free on the 4th August at 10am pop along to the Airlie Street Hall, Alyth to support their Coffee morning.
