Gleneagles assistant pro Tom Higson won today's (TUES) Tartan Tour Young Pros' OOM Sprint Series 18-hole competition at Duddingston Golf Club, Edinburgh.

Higson shot a four-under-par 68 to head the field by two strokes and win the £280 first prize from a total prizefund of £1,585.

Higson birdied three par-5 holes, the fourth, eighth and 17th, as well as the par-4 seventh and the par-3 14th in halves of 34.

Joint runners-up on 70 were Ross Munro (Duddingston), Steven O'Hara (North Lanarkshire Leisure) and Fraser McKenna (Caldwell) who each earned £186.

O'Hara led the field when he reached the turn in 31, which included an eagle and four birdies, but he had four bogeys and no birdies after the turn.
