Hannah McCook's seven-birdie 67 gives her a two-shot lead at end of 'Helen Holm' first round at Troon Portland

Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) came in late on the day with an excellent, seven-birdie round of five-under-par 67 to knock Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) and title-holder Linn Grant (Sweden) off their perch as joint leaders in the clubhouse at the Helen Holm Scottish women's open amateur stroke-play championship, writes Colin Farquharson.
The first two rounds are played over Troon Portland with the leading 66 and ties from a field of 113 after Saturday's second 18 holes going on to contest the final round over the testing Royal Troon Open championship links on Sunday.
McCook, pictured, birdied the first, fourth, 10th, 12th, 15th, 16th and 18th in halves of 34 and 33. She also had two bogeys, at the second and 17th.
The Grantown on Spey player leads by two from McWilliam, chasing
a place in the GB and I Curtis Cup team to be announced next week, and Grant whose grandfather James Grant from Inverness won the Scottish boys championship in 1958 and then turned pro, taking up a club post in Sweden.
Torphins-based McWilliam, 18, capped her three-under 69 with an eagle 3 at the 18th after birdieing the 15th and 16th.
Grant staged a grandstand finish, birdieing the short 16th, 17th and 18 for an inward half of 34.
Apart from McCook and McWilliam, Scots who did well were Stirling student Chloe Goadby (St Regulus) with a 72 and Kristy Brodie (Strathmore) and Mirren Fraser (Powfoot), both with  73s.
