Michael Lawrie to the fore in

Stirling students' triumph

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Stirling University retained the men's match-play team title at the 96th Scottish student golf championships over the Moray Golf Club Old Course, Lossiemouth today (Friday).
They outclassed St Andrews in the final, winning 11.5-05.
Stirling took the foursomes 3.5-0.5 and the singles by a "whitewash" scoreline of 8-0.

Former Open champion Paul Lawrie's younger son, Michael, played a prominent role as Stirling lived up to their pre-tournament tag of hot favourites.
Promoted in the "batting order" in both the foursomes and singles, young Lawrie, pictured left by Stew Fowlie, partnered Jordan Sundborg to a 4 and 3 lead-off win in the morning and followed that up with a 6 and 5 win, playing No 2 in the singles.
