LAURA AND JANE MAKE S AFRICAN OPEN CUT

BUT KELSEY AND CARLY ARE ELIMINATED

Alford's Laura Murray (Kippie Lodge) and Jane Turner from the Lothians survived the second-round cut but Nairn's Kelsey Macdonald and Carly Booth from Comrie were eliminated on Day 2 of the Investec South African Women's Open golf championship at Westlake Golf Club, Cape Town today (Friday).

Germany’s Karolin Lampert shot a solid second-round 69 in glorious conditions to hold a one-stroke lead going into Saturday's final round with a five-under-par tally of 139.

At five-under-par, she holds a one stroke advantage over the first-round leader, South African Ashleigh Buhai, who shot a 71 at Westlake Golf Club.

Murray, pictured right, under pressure after a first-round 77, responded with a one-under 71 for a 148 tally, two strokes inside the cut mark. Laura had a double bogey 5 at the short third after birdieing the first two holes but she kept her cool and birdied the 12th and long 13th before her only bogey over her last 15 holes, at the 17th.
Turner made the cut with one shot to spare with rounds of 74 and 75 for 149. Macdonald, still searching for her form, missed out on 153 with rounds of 78 and 75.

Booth had a double bogey 7 at the 16th and dropped four shots to par over her last five holes but she would still have missed the cut even with five pars. She returned scores of 78 and 77 for 155.
