Howie leading Scot with a 67 at Casablanca

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Craig Howie from Peebles is the leading Scot after the first round of the Casa Green Open at Palmeraie Country Club, Casablanca in Morocco.
He shot a three-under-par 71 to be joint 14th behind  joint leaders, Max Griesbeck (Germany) and Ben Rusch (Switzerland) who opened up a three-stroke advantage at the head of a huge field of 160 competitors by both returning seven-under-par 64s.
Howie birdied the seventh, eighth, 10th, 15th and 18th, offset by bogeys at the ninth and 16th.
Peterhead's Ross Cameron is the next best Scot in joint 57th place with a four-birdie, four-bogey par round of 71. Also on this mark are compatriots Chris Maclean and Liam Johnston, winner of the most recent event on the Pro Golf Tour.
