ABERDEEN MASTERS' SENIOR TOURNAMENT RETURNS AT MELDRUM HOUSE NEXT JULY
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The Aberdeen Masters senior professional golf tournament will return to the golf calendar next year from July 17 to 19 at Meldrum House Country Hotel golf course, Oldmeldrum.
Aberdeen businessman Nick Robson, pictured, introduced the event in 2015 but it was not played this year because suitable dates could not be found.
"The 2018 dates are the week before the Senior Open at St Andrews," said Mr Robson."Hopefully we will attract top class seniors from all over the world, some playing in the Senior Open and some hoping to qualify the following Monday."
Miguel Angel Martin beat Santiago Luna in a play-off to win the inaugural title in 2015 and Tim Spence, pictured left with the trophy, won the £10,000 first prize last year at Meldrum House.
Sponsorship details are still not complete but it is likely that the main trio of previous years - Nick Robson's Thistle Windows and Conservatories, Bob Edwards' Meldrum House Country Hotel, and Gary Ross's Gym Rental will collaborate once more.
