Rain forces abandonment of N E

Alliance competition at Kemnay

By Colin Farquharson
For the first time in several years, a North-east Golfers' Alliance fixture was started but not finished today(WED).
Only 15 scores had been returned when the rainy conditions took a turn for the worse at lunchtime and the flooded course became unplayable.
"The greenkeeping staff put in a power of work all morning but the rain got heavier and I had to abandon the competition just after 1pm," said new Alliance secretary Michael MacDougall.
Next Wednesday's fixture is over Newmachar Golf Club's Hawkshill course.
