McKechnie and Gallagher lead Scots

at Roxburghe Qualifying  School

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Two players from the Lothians, Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills) and John Gallagher (Duddingston) are the leading Scots, in a share of fifth place, after two rounds of the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 eliminator at Roxburghe Hotel golf course near Kelso.
McKechnie has shot 68 and 72 for four-under 140, the same mark as Gallagher with rounds of 72 and 68.
Philip McLean (70-72), Daniel Young (69-73) and Ewen Ferguson (72-70) are sharing 12th place on 142.
Tony Jacklin's Scots-born son Sean and Paul Ferrier are sharing 19th place on 143, both with rounds of 71-82.
Former Scottish amateur champion Chris Robb (Meldrum House), well placed after an opening 70, slumped to a second-round 77 for 147 and is now sharing 53rd place.  Robb had a quadruple bogey 8 at the ninth and a triple bogey 7 at the 18th in halves of 38-39.
+Bad weather in Germany disrupted the Q School programme at Fleesensee Golf Club where Scot Craig Ross had a 69 in the first round. Play was halted for a long spell and only a few players completed their second rounds. Craig and most of the others will be out early Thursday morning to complete Round 2 before they go out again for the third round.
