Six Scots qualify for European Tour Q School Stage 2 (5 at Roxburghe, 1 in Germany)

Six Scots have advanced to Stage 2 of the European Tour Qualifying School from Stage 1 today.
At the Roxburghe Hotel course, Daniel Young, Liam Johnston (amateur), Ewen Ferguson, Craig Howie (amateur) and Ross Cameron, finished within the leading 20, and at Fleesensee Golf Club, Germany, amateur Craig Ross, the only Scot in the field, finished joint second.
Craigie Hill's Young finished third at the Roxburghe with rounds of 69, 73, 66 and 69 for a total of 11-under-par 277, seven behind winner Rasmus Hjelm (Denmark) and five behind runner-up Sam Hutsby (England).
Johnston (70-74-69-66) and former British boys' champion Ewen Ferguson (72-70-68-69) made it through in joint fourth place on 279.
Howie tied for eighth place with rounds of 73, 71, 70 and 67 for 281 while Peterhead's Ross Cameron qualified on the limit mark of 283 with scores of 70, 74, 71 and 68.
Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills) failed by one stroke alongwith Tom Higson (Gleneagles) on the 284 mark. A third-round 74 proved McKechnie's undoing while Higson never recovered from an opening 74.
Duddingston's John Gallagher, well placed with one round go, nosedived out of the qualification zone with a final score of 76 for 285.
