with some additional words by Colin Farquharson
ANDERSON, South Carolina – Brevard College senior golfer Craig Stephen from Torphins, Aberdeenshire captured the first tournament title of his United States collegiate career  by firing a 146 (+2) aggregate  at the Anderson Invitational in Anderson, South Carolina.
Stephen, who entered the second round in sixth place and three shots off the pace set by day one leader Elias Birkeland (Georgia Southwestern), carded a second-round 70 to win by four strokes.
By virtue of scoring the lowest round at the event, Stephen edged out fellow All-Tournament honorees Forrest Fowler (Anderson) and Drew Buffaloe (Bob Jones), who both fired a 150 (+6).
"It was nice to get my first collegiate win and a great way to start the year," said Stephen. "It was my goal to win a college tournament and I'm excited to say I've done that now."
Joining Stephen among top performers for the Tornados was compatriot Calum McAndrew, who finished in a three-way tie for 14th after firing a 156 (+12). McAndrew, who hails from Fife, rebounded from a difficult first round performance, which resulted in an 81, to record a 75 in day two action.
Austin Fisher came away with a 160 (+16) in the first tournament of his junior season, recording rounds of 82 and 78, to tie for 24th. Ben Kleppe (82-87—169; +25) and Peterhead's Declan Addison (91-86—133; +33) completed the card for Brevard in 35th and 37th, respectively.
Brevard College finished fourth as a team in the event with scores of 321 and 309 (+54), 15 strokes behind team champion Georgia Southwestern (615, +39), despite a pair of eagles at the event by Stephen.
