Bryce pips Wilson for Faldo Series Scotland title

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Joseph Bryce (Bathgate), with rounds of 72, 70 and 70, and James Wilson (Balmore), 70-71-71, topped the final totals on one-under-par 212 in the Faldo Series Scotland open boys' championship which ended at The Duke's Course, St Andrews today (Wed).
They then went into a sudden death play-off from the 17th, which Bryce (19) won to secure first place officially.
The two Scots had been trailing England's Matthew Myers through the first two rounds but the Northamptonshire player had a triple bogey 7 at the seventh and a double bogey 6 at the 15th. Myers finished third with rounds of 69, 69 and 78 for 216.
Campbell Gibson (Blairgowrie) finished joint fourth overall on 220 (72-76-72) but won the Under-18s category.
Cameron Adam (Royal Burgess) won the Under-16s competition with scores of 81, 70 and 77 for 228.
Bryce, Gibson and Adam will go on to the Faldo Series Grand Final on dates and a venue still to be announced.
In the girls' section Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle), with scores of 72, 76 and 80, won the Under-21s' title with a 228 total while Switzerland-based Cameron Neilson was the Under-16s winner with a 13-over-par total of 226 (81-70-75). There were only two girls' sections.
