St Andrews youngster Aamar (13) stars at

Drumoig "golfathon"

FROM WALTER BURNS
Here are the results from our event at Drumoig yesterday. This was the first time we had our new summer format: "GOLFATHON" where every shot counts! Golfathon is like Triathlon or Decathlon where a series of separate events on the day count together to determine the eventual winners.

The three events were a nine-hole par 3 competition, a putting challenge and an 18 hole stroke-play event. The par 3 competition was a “must miss” challenge. The players are not allowed to hit the green with their tee shot which would incur a two shot penalty. A great short game task.

The outstanding performance of the day came from Aamar Saleem (St Andrews) who scored a one over par 145 for the event. He shot 29 in the par 3 competition, getting up and down seven times. His two over par 75 from  the back tees at Drumoig was a great score for a 13 year old.

Our next Golfathon event will be held in July.
