SCOTS-BORN KARIS IS NOW RANKED NUMBER

ONE FEMALE AMATEUR IN AUSTRALIA

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Innerleithen-born Karis Davidson is now ranked the No. 1 female amateur golfer in Australia following a recent win in The Dunes Medal tournament, one of the biggest lady stroke-play events Down Under.
She produced an eagle and two birdies during a final round of 73 for a winning total of 297, one stroke ahead of runner-up Elizabeth Elmasson (74-73-78-73).
Karis's earlier rounds were 73, 72 and 79.
The weather conditions for the third round were "terrible," reports Karis's mother Faye.
The Davidson family emigrated to Queensland, Australia when Karis was seven or eight years old. She is now 18.
