Duncan McNeill makes top 30 in David Toms
Intercollegiate at Baton Rouge
Duncan
McNeill from Annan, a student at McNeese State University, improved
with a final-round 74 to finish T26 in a field of 77 players at the
David Toms Intercollegiate at the University Club, Baton Rouge,
Louisiana today (USA time).
Duncan's
earlier rounds in the 54-hole event over a par-72 course of 7,220 yds
were 74 and 80. In his final round, the Scot had birdies at the fourth,
10th, 14th and 17th but a double bogey 6 at the 18th in halves of 37.
Team-mate Tom Atkins from Poole finished T50 on 237 (78-81-78).
An
unusual quadruple "dead-heat" for first place, featuring four Louisiana
State University players: Brandon Pierce (66-76-73), N
Eric Ricard (71-75-69), Luis Gagne (73-69-73) and Sam Burns (72-76-67), all on one-under-par 215.
Not
surprisingly, Louisiana State won the team title by the comfortable
margin of 35 strokes from second-placed North Texas with McNeese State
(891) third and South Alabama (897) fourth in a field of 14 teams.
