Scottish boys' stroke play championship at Lanark

Ben from Down Under finishes day on top

Australian Ben Ferguson, with a four-under-par 66, set the pace on a day of low scoring in the first round of the Scottish U18 boys' open amateur stroke-play championship at Lanark Golf Club.
Ferguson had six birdies and two bogeys in halves of 34 and 32.
His closest rival is Sandyhills' junior member R Yu Zhu who birdied five of the last eight holes, coming home in 31 to get in the mix.
Sharing third place are Scots Robert Watson (Muckhart) and Jamie Stewart (Old Ranfurly) on 68. Watson had only one bogey, at the third, and three birdies. Stewart left his birdies late - at the 14th, 16th and 17th for 33 home.
