Having defeated
Auchmill in their final match, Hazlehead took the first of the places available
in this season’s semi-finals of the Aberdeen Pennant League, sponsored by Molly’s Bistro/Malones Irish Bar (Aberdeen Douglas Hotel).
For the remaining
places available, it is very much a case of perm any three from five.
Royal Aberdeen finished runners up to Hazlehead in League A
and, having accumulated 9 points and a match difference of 9, are hopeful of
gaining entry by virtue of best second place.
Portlethen’s defeat
on Tuesday at Murcar Links ended their hopes of qualification and it is now a battle
between Bon Accord and Murcar Links for top place in
League B.
Murcar Links remain favourites,
having amassed 9 points and an impressive match difference of 13 from their
matches played. However, the final
outcome could hinge on the result of their re-arranged match, Bon Accord v Murcar Links, scheduled for the
Kings Links on Thursday, July 7.
Nigg Bay boast a 100% record in League C with 6
points from their two home matches played.
They now face tricky matches at Stonehaven (July 5) and
what could be the league decider at Banchory (July 12).
Defending champions Banchory
currently lead League C by one point, having played a game more. They will be keen to exploit
their home advantage and extend their 12-match unbeaten run which stretches
back to 2014.
