Ryder Cup selection hopes

- Charley Hoffman's one-shot win at the Valero Texas Open moved him from No. 22 to No. 12 in the U.S. Ryder Cup standings. That's still shy of an automatic spot, but Hoffman is now ahead of 2014 team members Matt Kuchar, Jimmy Walker, and Webb Simpson.
- Hoffman's victory propelled him from No. 57 to No. 34 in the world rankings, his highest standing since a third-place finish at last year's Deutsche Bank Championship.
- Patrick Reed finished one shot behind Hoffman in San Antonio, but it was still enough to overtake J.B. Holmes for the eighth (and final) automatic qualifying spot in the Ryder Cup standings.
- WIth the Olympic withdrawals of Adam Scott and Louis Oosthuizen, Australia's Marc Leishman and South Africa's Charl Schwartzel are now both in line to qualify for a trip to Rio this summer.
- A victory at the European Tour's Shenzhen International helped South Korea's Soomin Lee jump 53 spots to No. 75 in the latest world rankings.
- Joost Luiten finished second behind Lee in China, his second runner-up finish on the European Tour in as many weeks. Luiten is now up to No. 61 in the world, with the top 60 at next month's cutoff earning spots in the U.S. Open.
