ALPS TOUR EVENT IN FRANCE

JAMES WHITE SHOOTS A 66 (EVEN WITH

A DOUBLE BOGEY 7!) IN FRANCE

Fifer James White, pictured, shot a brilliant seven-under-par 66 - despite a double bogey 7 at the 17th - to banish fears he would miss the cut in the Alps Tour event in France, the Open International du Haut Poitou.
White, who had a 76 in the first round over the par-73 lay-out, shot to the turn in only 30 shots with six birdies. He dropped his first shot to par at the 10th but then added four more birdies before running up a 7 at the par-5 17th
White, from Lundin, starts the final round in joint 14th place, four shots behind the English leader, Matt Wallace (67-71 for eight-under 138).
The only other Scot in the field, John Henry (Clydebank and District), is sharing 18th place with two sub-par rounds, 71 and 72, for three-under 146.
