TITLES AT SENIORS' MATCH-PLAY

Malcolm Reid, the No 2 seed from the Reading club, Sonning, is the new
Scottish senior men's amateur match-play golf champion.
He
beat Stewart Millar (Cochrane Castle) by 4 and 3 in the final at
Southerness Golf Club on the shores of the Solway Firth this afternoon
(Friday).
In
the morning semi-finals, Reid knocked out the No 3 seed and much
fancied rival, Ian Brotherston (Dumfries and County) by 4 and 3. Millar
beat Les Pirie (Millport) 2 and 1 in the other semi-final.
In the final, Reid never looked back after going three up at the sixth, although Millar cut his deficit to one at the turn.
Reid re-established a three-hole lead by winning the 10th and 11th.
Keith Howie (West Kilbride) won the over-65s' Super Seniors
match-play championship. He beat David A Millar (St Andrews New) by one hole in the final.
