SHIELDS PAYS $1,000 TO ENTER - THEN RETURNS A 74

Paul Shields' investment of $1,000 in the entry fee for this week's $100,000 All-American Professional Tour 54-hole event at Anthem Golf Club, Persimmon in Arizona does not look as if it is going to pay him a dividend.
The Kirkhill man - now a rookie tour professional - shot a two-over-par 74 in the first round and is T76 in the field of 157.
Ryan Dillon is setting the pace with a five-under
67, a shot ahead of seven other Americans 
Dornoch exile Jimmy Gunn, a regular and successful competitor on this tour, is not in the field this week.
