SCOTS AMATEUR McGHEE JUST OUTSIDE TOP TEN ON MURCIA TOUR
East Renfrewshire amateur Paul McGhee, pictured, finished joint 11th in a field of 24 players at this week's Evolve Pro Tour (formerly Hi5 Tour), the Elle Valle Open in the Spanish south-east province of Murcia.
McGhee had rounds of 73 and 74 for 147 in what was his first appearance in a professional tournament.
Paul was a student at Johnson and Wales University, Miami when he had to return home, suffering from Hodgkins Lymphoma. After treatment, he finished his degree at West of Scotland University.
He is now working with Levante Lebeche in the city of Murcia. They are commercial partners with the Evolve Tour.
McGhee finished 14 shots behind the runaway winner, Florian Fritsch who headed the final by a commanding six-shot margin after rounds of 65 and 68 for nine-under-par 133
A lady pro from South Korea, Byun Hyun Min finished joint second on 139 with rounds of 71 and 68. She tied with England's Matt Evans (71-68) for second and third prizes.
