EWAN SCOTT FINISHES FIFTH DOWN UNDER
Scottish youths champion Ewan Scott from St Andrews finished a creditable fifth in a strong field for the Australian Master of the Amateurs championship at Royal Melbourne Golf Club today (Friday).
Scott, who was beaten finalist at Murcar Links last April in the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish boys match-play championship, shot scores of 68, 71, 73 and 73 for a total of 285
He finished six shots behind the 17-year-old winner, Viraat Badhwar from Queensland who had rounds of 64, 74, 68 and 70 for 279 and a two-stroke victory from runner-up Brady Watt (West Australia).
Badhwar is Austratlia's top junior and he demonstrated his potential by returning a final round of 70 in high winds.
Brady Warr had led by four strokes with a round to go.
England's Garrick Porteous finished a shot behind Scott.
