SHIELDS MAKES US PRO EVENT CUT
Glasgow's Paul Shields (Kirkhill), playing as an amateur, survived the cut in this week's opening event on the All-American Professional Tour over Arizona State University's Karsten course at Tempe, Arizona.
Paul's second-round six-under-par 65 was one of the lowest scores of the 54 hole event. One of several amateurs in the field, the Scot was the only one to make the 36-hole cut.
Shields, who will be 22 in January, shot 74, 65 and 80 for a six-over-par total of 219 - 23 shots behind the winner, Canadian Richard Lee who had scores of 68, 67 and 61 for a 10-under total of 196.
