It was not so much rain in Spain more like "pain" in Spain for the three Scots pro golfers in the first round of the Hi5 Pro Tour's Altorreal Futures Open 54-hole tournament at the Murcia venue today. Former Scottish amateur champion Andrew McArthur, pictured, finished the day in joint 22nd spot with a two-over-par 74 which had seen him birdied the long sixth and 11th but bogey tthe fifth, seventh, eighth and 10th before he settled down to par the last seven holes in a row. Alyth's Mark Rae signed for a 76 and joint 35th place. He had the same number of birdies as McArthur but had six bogeys, four of them over the last seven holes. Mark Kerr (Murrayfield) does not have many of the field of 58 behind him after a disappointing round of 79 for a share of 46th place. Mark had only one birdie, at the 15th, to offset a double bogey 6 at the 16th and single shots dropped at the seventh, ninth, 10th, 12th, 14th and 18th in halves of 38-41. Leading the field at eight-under 64 is England's James Ruth. He is three clear of compatriot Danny Wardrop and Denmark's Daniel Lokke.
