Edinburgh & East of Scotland Golfers' Alliance
After another rain threat last night and early morning course inspection the Edinburgh and East Alliance got under way at Royal Musselburgh by 8am today with all 101 players completing their round well before sundown ( well perhaps sundown is an exaggeration but it felt like it after the early morning weather test!).
Congratulations go to Daniel Airens of Falkirk Tryst who joined the Edinburgh and East Alliance last year and was the winner of The Jordan Trophy today.
Danny had an excellent net 67 (77 less 10) to win by two shots from Stuart Brown of Glencourse 69 (74 less 5).
Third place was shared on 70 by Hugh Fraser of Niddry Castle (72 less 2), Mike Robson of Harrison (72 less 2) and Grant Skinner of Glencourse (73 less 3).
The Scratch prizes were very closely fought with Sean McGarvey of Glencorse first in with the best scratch score of 69 (36,33) but followed a little later by Derek Fish of Glenbervie also with 69 (37,32) despite bogeys at 1st, 2nd and 18th.
Third place was shared three ways on a level par score of 70 by Scott Catlin (Greenburn), Jonnie Cliff (Murrayfield) and Scott Grieve (Turnhouse).
Senior Prize with Net 71 was shared by David Jeffrey of Whitekirk (78 less 7) and David McKean of Cardrona (77 less 6).
Trainee Professional Prize went to Daniel Wood of The Hirsel with 71 (36,35).
It is early days in the Order of Merit with only two rounds played but current front runners are:
Scott Catlin (Greenburn) - 113 points
