BARRY REID BLITZ TAKES HIM THROUGH TO ABERDEEN LINKS SEMI

Caledonian +1 player Barry Reid turned on the style in the quarter-finals of the Aberdeen Links championship at the Kings Links last night.
Up against Bon-Accord's Matt Greig, Reid birdied five of his first eight holes to hold a commanding six-hole lead. To his credit, Matt fought back over the back nine and had chances to further reduce the deficit but a closing birdie on the par 5 15th saw Reid through to Wednesday's semi-finals.
Reid's opponent will be holder and leading qualifier Barrie Edmond who had a hard fought 2 and 1 win against clubmate and former EuroPro Tour player Neil Mitchell.
The other semi-final will be between Bon-Accord's Ross Young and Caledonian's Stewart Finnie who beat Stewart Slessor and Alex Cruickshank respectively.
In the Handicap Section there were big wins for Caley's Jake Laing and Northern's Alex Sherriffs. They will face Bon-Accord duo Davie Grieve and Willie Shand on Wednesday.
There was agony for leading Murray Cup qualifier Norman Rose. The Northern player tore ligaments in his ankle playing football on Sunday and had to scratch from the tournament, leaving Keith Robertson with a walk-over into the last four.
Keith will face Bon-Accords Colin Murphy. The other semi-final will be between Gordon Duncan and Ian Stewart.
